FAQ

Congratulations! You’ve made it here, which means you’re interested in knowing more about the fastest growing Fitness community on the planet!
Firstly we’d love to extend a huge welcome from all the members and staff of CrossFit Levitate. Below are a number of Frequently Asked Questions that will set your mind at ease and tell you everything you need to know to get started here at CrossFit Levitate.

What is CrossFit?
By definition CrossFit is constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity.  What’s that mean?  We prepare you to be fit enough to do just about anything by making you a well-rounded athlete To us CrossFit is the glue that holds this crazy family together here at Levitate. And just like any family we’re not all the same, Mums, dads, office workers, tradies, students, grandma & grandpa and everything in between.
Here’s an entertaining video as well as a brief explanation that sums up CrossFit pretty well!

DO I NEED EXPERIENCE OR SOME MINIMUM LEVEL OF FITNESS?

No!  Just get started.  Our coaches are here to take the confusion off of your shoulders.  We design your workout and show you how to do each exercise so you can participate in a new and fun workout every day in the safest possible environment and with people just like you!  Our workouts and exercises scale to any level – from walking to running, broomsticks to barbells, or push-ups to handstands we’ll tailor the workout to your ability.

DO I NEED TO BE IN SHAPE BEFORE I SHOW UP?
Absolutely not! You don’t have to be fit to start, you just have to start. Step by step, we’ll coach you up from a broomstick to a barbell. Each class you are pushed and encouraged based on your current level of fitness. All we want is for you to give your best effort during each workout.

IS IT WORTH IT? What’s it like?
We definitely would say it is worth it, but we are a little biased. The only person who can truly tell you if it is worth it, is you. The only way you can know is to join us for a workout and we can’t wait to have you!

What’s a “WOD” and why are CrossFit gyms sometimes called a “Box?”
We refer to workouts as WODs – “workouts of the day” – because, well, acronyms are fun!
CrossFit gyms are usually in buildings with large open space and plenty of room to lift, run, jump, play and move. Because of this they look like a box from the outside and in true CrossFit spirit we embraced the new term and made it our own!
